I wanted to love this book, I really did. But, unfortunately, it did absolutely nothing for me, and in my opinion, the majority of this book was a mess. I struggled to honestly find anything significant to appreciate about it. The book felt terribly slow, most of the way through, the characters were dull and flat, and, the dystopian setting was entirely unbelievable and unrealistic. The writing style wasn't compelling, and I found it didn't flow with ease. I had much difficulty getting into this book, and really, if it wasn't for the fact of this being a classic, I may have given up reading it. Having not long finished this, I feel like the life has been sucked out of me! Show less

I think this is a great book, not only because it gives a new perspective on life, but it's chosen vocabulary makes it an interesting read. I generally think many people would enjoy this book because it's almost a dystopian thriller based on my experiences. This book is very fascinating, especially when it goes into philosophy and gives away valuable information the reader could use in their life. Or even just to find a new way to feel grateful considering they live in a very different world than us, giving ideas out for the reader to consider if this was the actual world we live in. Some aspects even give off that feeling so we could relate to how some may perceive the way we live. It's based on nature and nurture depending on our true instincts and what that would look like. Also, it's a decent size of a book to read, not too long or short, though very intriguing. Not to mention the author, Aldous Huxley, is a very influential man with so many great ideas that many don't consider. Based on the main point of the book warning us of the dangers, in his mind, of having full government control. Making you think about what your ethics and beliefs are and your translation of the meaning. Overall, I think this would be a great book for everyone to read. Not only to educate people but to entertain the thought of living in this world and showing that we all are the same depending on how we are raised with minor differences. Thus, demonstrating the true power of ideas and how they can grab hold of the way you live. Show less
